What happens when larp based on Vampire: The Masquerade is reinvented according to the tenets of Nordic Larp? Larps based on Vampire have been enormously popular since their introduction in the Nineties, often based on the official Mind's Eye Theatre rules. Starting with the Vampire: The Masquerade larp End of the Line in 2016 in Helsinki, this traditional method of designing Vampire larps has been joined by another, collaborative design style.
We've now had 10 years of Vampire larps created according to this new philosophy, such as End of the Line, Enlightenment in Blood, Convention of Thorns and Saturnalia. There's even a book about creating this style of Vampire larp, War of Ages. What have we learned, what has been done, and what is it about Vampire anyway that makes all this possible?

The program aims to provide an overview of a major creative strand in both Nordic larp and Vampire larp and demonstrate the design ideas and setting patterns which make it work.

97 Poets of Revachol is a larp inspired by the world of Disco Elysium. It revolves around community, art, whimsy, and the bizarre. Yet at its core, it is fundamentally about politics and polarisation. How can one create political play that includes 118 characters and a wide spectrum of ideologies? Can hope survive in a game with a scripted hopelessly polarised endpoint? Furthermore, can political play actually be fun, hardcore, and dare we say… DISCO?
In this talk, we offer snapshots and lessons learned from four runs of 97 Poets and illustrate how we managed to create a vibrant, authentic political landscape in a game where even the black mould on the walls hides secret conspiracies. There will be statistics, there will be glitter, and there will, inevitably, be taxidermy.What participants can expect

This session grows from a truth many of us carry: after years of playing, helping, and organizing LARPs, we’ve all gathered moments that didn’t land right, feedback that vanished, changes that never came, silences that felt like answers. That weight? It doesn’t have to stay heavy. It can become wisdom.
This is a space for all kinds of LARP organizers to share how you’ve turned lessons learned into action. What did you change? What did you keep? How did you hold yourself, or your team, accountable? No shame, no blame. Just honest reflection and shared growth.
I’ll share my own journey, including founding Liminal Domain, as one example of building from frustration, not despite it. Not to offer fixes, but to show how grief, pettiness, and anger, when named and shaped, can become the foundation for better games.
Come with your stories. Leave with new ways to build LARPs that listen, adapt, and grow, because the most resilient games are the ones that learn.

10min talk followed by a facilitated conversation.
Participants will experience a personal reflection on how discomfort can be a source of movement rather than paralysis. Through honesty and self deprecating humor, we will share how the weight of unspoken frustration and hurt can became motivation to create, to test hope, and to engage more actively with failure.
Wanting to do better does not require certainty or purity. It requires willingness. Willingness to look at what hurts, to fail openly, and to stay present even when it is uncomfortable. The goal is not resolution, but a shared courage to let discomfort guide us toward more accountable and caring ways of creating LARPs together.Prerequisites & Requirements

Creating custom light colors and animations is easier and cheaper than you think! Learn how to create animated light that you can control with your phone and that reacts to your players - no coding or soldering, no previous knowledge or tech-savvyness needed!
What participants can expect
In this workshop, you will learn to use programmable LED strips, affordable microcontrollers and the easy to use and open source WLED app, a software package to create your own light animations. In small groups, you will work on an LED strips and controllers, go through all the steps to program the controller, connect the parts, create animations and integrate buttons or sensors. After this workshop, you will have everything you need to use animated LED strips - from a list of products to buy to the last software settings.

I don't like seeing I have a love relation with an older male player at a larp--but it is not for the reason you think it is...
The aim of this talk is to present personal experiences and anecdotes from others about issues related to younger female players possibly being excluded from certain types of play (mostly romantic) because of their age.
The talk will use the starting point of my own experience, talking about my feelings and experiences with playing certain relations at larp mostly with older male players, and how I have had repeated experiences of not being played with. My hypothesis is that this has mostly been based around ooc age differences. Then I would like to explore possibly why this has happened, through using anecdotes from both other younger female players who have experienced the same as well as statements from older male players about why this could be and how they experience it from their point of view.I hope to achieve a conversation about this phenomenon that I believe has been around for quite some time now, and that speaking up about my experiences with it could lead to some possible change--or even just a bigger awareness of the situation to begin with. In my experience, people fear talking about age, but also have a lot of opinions about it, which is why I want to open up a part of this conversation through this talk.

I’ve been playing and running LARPs in the UK since 1993. These include large fest systems, midsize linear based larps and small intense bespoke larps. In that time, much has changed, mainly for the better. If we reflect on the past, we can learn for the future. Why aren’t things perfect now? We should look at where we came from.
This talk discusses the evolution of larp in the UK and how things have improved, including things I did that I would not do now.
It is of interest to younger players who have not lived through these developments and to older players who might like to reminisce or to reflect on how much their hobby has changed.

The Nordic Larp community exists and have thrived and grown over the last 30 years, because larp cannot be commodified and we act and work without central authorities. You will hopefully leave with new perspectives on how and why we larp as we do. You might have new thoughs on why the larp community is magical and with a sense of how it might relate to the larger society.

This presentation explores concepts from kink culture–such as top drop–in tandem with concepts and tools from the intimacy choreography and intimacy coordination fields. When combined by larp designers for larpers, these concepts and tools invite a paradigm shift related to how we perceive and negotiate individualized needs and care throughout the larp from workshopping to deroling. Further, this presentation offers a toolkit that larp designers can implement to supplement their understanding of different types of drop and how these distinct experiences of drop are impacted by the characters we play and by play patterns that provide or deny support on-game, as well as tools for supporting aftercare for villainous players.

This talk will summarize early results from a study conducted by the Horizon Europe Larpocracy project assessing the democratic skills and values of larpers within adjacent and sometimes overlapping national and international larp communities. In Spring 2025, we sent out a survey collecting data on demographics, larp experience, other subcultural activities, and political engagement and beliefs. We also gathered data assessing participants’ self-reported perspective taking and empathy skills, as well as their values related to democratic deliberation.
Additionally, we asked participants to list larps they considered democracy-themed, identifying mechanics, narrative techniques, and other key factors they found particularly effective in the design, as well as areas for improvement. We also asked them to list activities they considered inherently democratic and assess how well these larps integrated these activities, if at all. Finally, we asked participants to share what we call their golden moments in democracy-themed larps.
While such data cannot fully answer the questions of whether larpers are inherently primed for democratic engagement, it paints a picture of participants who are highly passionate about questions related to freedom, justice, and care for others different from themselves.

Participants will learn about the demographics of our communities, as well as trends regarding their political beliefs and democratic skills. They will also learn about larps designed for democratic engagement and design directions if they want to organize political larps in the future.

Shortform vs. Longform Larp: Do Artistic Goals Differ?
In contemporary art larp, shortform experiences—such as blackbox and chamber larps—have become highly visible. Their accessibility and compatibility with established art venues have led many to equate art larp with shortform design. Yet longform larps are also created and presented as art, often through sustained, immersive processes. What truly distinguishes these formats? Do they pursue different artistic goals—and how do their design practices diverge?
This moderated discussion brings together two larp designers and artists whose work spans both formats. Nina Runa Essendrop holds a Master’s degree in Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies (movement specialization) from the University of Copenhagen and is best known for her short, non-verbal blackbox larps. Maiju Tarpila, theatre pedagogue and PhD researcher at the University of the Arts Helsinki, is renowned for her several day climate larps that emphasize co-creation and unfold as artistic processes.
Together, they will explore the shared ground and key differences between shortform and longform larp: from artistic intent and authorship to duration, embodiment, collaboration, and audience experience. The discussion is moderated by Kaisa Kangas, the artistic producer of the shortform larp festival Immersion Larp Festival, a larp designer, and the author of the Finnish non-fiction book Larppi eläytymisen taiteena which explores larp as an art form of immersion and embodied experience.
Whether you design, study, or experience larps—or are curious about their place in contemporary art—this conversation offers insights into how format shapes artistic practice.
What participants can expect
We hope to give participants a clearer, more nuanced understanding of how both shortform and longform larps function as contemporary art. Through the designers’ perspectives, the discussion aims to communicate how different formats shape artistic intent, authorship, collaboration and embodiment. The goal is to inspire reflection on format as an artistic choice and to open up new ways of thinking about larp as a diverse and process-driven art form.

This is a presentation of a fieldwork in a queer larp community for leather dykes+, a community few know about. With a following discussion of erotic larp and BDSM role-play games. Hanne Grasmo is doing her PhD in game culture studies, and this is her forth upcoming PhD-article, written together with Professor and larp scholar J.Tuomas Harviainen. Through participatory observation, small-group interviews, and analysis of design documents and workshop scripts, we identify how pleasure is produced, negotiated, and ethically managed through game structures and how this fictional social world can be part of queer resistance. New insights for larp designers of erotic and queer larps, as well as academics.
What participants can expect
We argue that these erotic role-playing games constitute queer heterotopic spaces where transgressive acts become safe, meaningful, and collectively held. The play practices not only produce erotic enjoyment but also foster queer resistance, personal transformation, and communal care. By situating BDSM role-play within larp scholarship, we show how pleasure in game design can be both radical and restorative for marginalized players. Still, we are not sure: Is it right to call BDSM group role-play for larp? This discussion with the participants will be a part of this program item.

Beneath a Silver Sky is a roleplaying workshop adapted from a large-scale policy game originally designed and run by the Civil Service College Applied Simulation and Training (CAST) team in Singapore.
Set in a version of Singapore in 2034, we invite you to step into speculative futures of climate change and geoengineering through the lens of "Resiliency Circles": support groups navigating extreme weather and radical climate interventions. The workshop invites players to reexamine how we view the relationship between individuals and global systems like climate change, and what a speculative version of bottom-up governance might look like.
What participants can expect
Explore new methods of community governance, imagine climate futures from an angle of hope and agency, and learn about how CAST designs policy simulations for the public service!
You will get to experience sections of the roleplaying workshop, initially run for public officers in Singapore. This will involve creating characters using an in-world journal artefact, experiencing extreme futures of geoengineering and co-creating adaptive community protocols. The CAST team will also be holding a discussion about how roleplaying experiences like this are used in Singapore’s public service to envision possible futures and challenge outdated mental models.
Prerequisites & Requirements
Participants will be moving around the room, working in small groups of 3, and engaging with speculative artefacts. The workshop involves light physical activity (standing, walking between groups) and collaborative discussion. No prior experience with policy games or climate topics required; just curiosity about alternative futures and willingness to engage with roleplay.

Have you grown tired of predictable characters? Do you long to write or play something different? A soft male poet who only dreams of being loved for who he is? The charming female playgirl who is celebrated despite her faults? The resourceful transperson who’s nestled their way to the top of the food chain?
In this workshop we name what tropes we're tired of, then use it as a trampoline: What sort of female/male/trans characters are often missing from our narratives? What fresh concepts do we long to explore? What can we dream up if we work together? Come and brainstorm with us to create character concepts, or share ideas you already have.
What participants can expect
We'll work in small groups, with discussion questions that take us from finding what character boxes we feel stuck in, to trying to break them open from the inside. At the end we hope to have a buffet of fresh character concepts we can all take inspiration from.

This is a 5 hour workshop, (though it can be flexible), designed at Tampere University with the Games As Art Center. It introduces participants to the biographical micro-larp framework whereby individual memories are turned into short form 10 minute larp scenarios. This targets people interested in experimental larp forms and using personal experiences in game design. No experience designing is required.
What participants can expect
This workshop introduces the project, based in ludic and narrative inquiry. It has participants play an example set of micro-larps "In Our Shoes: Stories of Ukrainian Reslience" based on interviews with people forcibly displaced from Ukraine due to the Russian invasion. Participants then build and play their larps taking based on one of their memories.

It's a workshop for larp orgazers/writers with a specific larp or an idea, people who want to help making a larp and people who just have good ideas they would like to see being made.
The participants tell if they belong to one (or more) of groups above. Then groups are made based on the larps/idea and people then choose a group. It's possible to switch between more groups. Depending on how many larps/ideas that have been presented more rounds are made with new groups.The workshop has been running at KP22, KP23 and SK24 with great success. It was also supposed to run at KP21, but I got sick the day before and had to cancel.

At the workshop people will present their idea for a larp and tell what they wish they can take home with them after the workshop. Then people will join a larp group according to their interests. It's possible to swap between the groups if you like.

Larp is a profoundly embodied medium, but we often treat the body as something to manage rather than something to explore. Our focus tends to rest on the "parlour" side of larping: talking, thinking, then talking about our thinking. Meanwhile, the body gets relegated to logistics and safety protocols; how to fight, how to love, how to move. But what can the body do for larp? How can we use embodiment not just as a given or an hindrance, but as a creative, expressive, and meaning-making tool at the heart of the larp experience?
What participants can expect
I hope to spark a reflection on how we, as larpers, can become more aware of our bodies as active storytelling tools. I’d like to begin a conversation about how we can treat the body as a nuanced resource, just as meaningful for interaction and expression as a deep backstory or a well-crafted conversation. This talk is an invitation to reconsider active embodiment as one of larp’s most powerful design and play elements.

Light is everything. How and where we place it strongly impacts how we experience the world. It directs players to certain spaces, influences their mood and emotions, and can give a room its own character.
This talk provides larp organizers with a set of easy to advanced lighting design tools that enable them to significantly level up the atmosphere of their location - without having to build much. And it shares a few lessons learned from 10 years of building glowy larp sets, including: Tales Inside, Greylight 2142 and Blankspace.

The goal of this presentation is to show organizers how easy it can be to create a strong impact on their larp with lighting, and give them a few practical ideas for their next projects. It will address questions like:

How can I use lighting to influence which pathways players use, how much time they spend where and how they tell their stories?

This workshop is for anyone interested in the subject (and calibration is a good skill to practice for all larpers!).
What participants can expect
There are two parts to this workshop.
The first part is group discussions and an opportunity to learn from others as well as share what you've learned yourself. Tips and tricks, do's and don'ts, and whatever else the participants come up with.
The second part is practical exercises and an opportunity to test out what you've just learned.
After this workshop the hope is that all participants have learned something new and are more confident in how to calibrate with others going forward.

Since about the dawn of human kind, people have gathered around the fire to tell and listen to stories. Come and enjoy a storytelling session with us, where we do just that thing!
In this lightly-structured session, our aim is to simply bask and revel in the magic of storytelling for a while. In small groups, around make-believe bonfires (i.e battery powered candles probably) we invite you to listen to eachothers larp-related stories. Our hope is, that by being provided this space along with some guiding questions, you will get to (re-)discover, reflect over and/or notice which stories that actually stay with you, how they affect you and how they connect you to others.

Let's inspire each other! Which specific and very practical mechanics and tools do people love in collaborative larp design both as players and designers?
I will shortly describe dyadic play, strict time management, calibration rounds in act breaks where people have to dedicate if they offer to help each other and my eye contact exercise to create connection between play partners.
But I want to hear yours! So we'll split up into smaller groups and inspire each other and gather ideas all together in the end. We will also try out a few of them.

A short introduction of examples and an opportunity to discuss in smaller groups about their favourite tools and then we'll practice some of the ones where it's possible to try out.

Imagine a global community united in tackling the climate crisis. Can games play a part in it? Climate for All is an award-winning project designed for exactly that purpose, transforming play into skills, and skills into climate action. Six original games have been developed through the project, tailored to different competences and audiences, including of course two LARPs. Come learn how the whole thing works and how you can be part of it!
What participants can expect
This will be a presentation of the project, going through its goals, content, achievements, and most importantly how the participants can be involved in the project. It's worth to note here that all six games of the project are available for free in print-and-play format on our website, alongside an online course for facilitators. The project is building a global community and we would love those inspired by the presentation to be part of it right on the spot. The presentation itself will not exceed 15 minutes, with the rest of the time devoted to seeing and touching the copies of the games I will bring with me, and partially experiencing aspects of the gameplay. I will particularly focus on the worldbuilding method of one of the two LARPs, as well as insights from how the LARPs were designed with the aim to build competences related to sustainability. The remaining time will be used for Q&A.

In Chair Wars, you’ll step into the shoes of employees in a mid-sized company that’s about to move into a brand-new office building. Your mission? Fight for the perfect seating plan for your team — while juggling different interests, priorities, and personalities.
Each character comes with unique traits that bring common project failure factors to life. It’s your chance to experience how teamwork, decision-making, and individual behavior shape a project’s fate… and to have a lot of fun ruining the project mission!
What participants can expect
The participants will step directly into the chaos of employees in a mid-sized company that is preparing to move into a brand-new office building. Their mission is to fight for the perfect seating plan for their team. However, there is no solution that satisfies everyone — conflicts are inevitable.
During the EduLARP, the participants will take on characters with distinct quirks, goals, and motivations, each reflecting typical factors that make real projects fail. As the participants navigate negotiations, form alliances, spark conflicts, and try to outsmart their colleagues, they experience first-hand how teamwork, decision-making, and individual behavior influence the direction of a project.
It’s a chance for the participants to dive into the drama of everyday work life, test their strategic and social skills, and have a great deal of fun derailing the project mission along the way!

What participants can expect
Through guidance, demonstrations, and practical exercises with and without music, the connection between leader and follower will be explored and the shared responsibility for the connection made clear. No previous dance experience is necessary since we are not aiming at dancing a specific genre. These techniques can be transferred to many partner dances or used as is to explore movement and music together – at larps or other occasions.

There will be movement but nothing athletic. Music will be played at a reasonable sound level. Wear clothes that you are comfortable moving in and, depending on the floors, suitable shoes or socks.

This workshop builds on my “Tricks in Costuming 101” session that happened on friday. Instead of just talking about techniques, this time you’ll get to try some of them yourself in an open workshop that you can come in whenever you want, and leave whenever you feel ready.
Curious about how materials like Worbla behave when heated? Want to see the difference between a styled wig and one straight out of the bag? In this hands-on session you’ll get the chance to experiment with some of the small tricks costume makers use every day. Try shaping thermoplastics, test how glues behave on different fabrics, or learn a simple hem stitch that’s nearly invisible.
You won’t be making a full costume piece, but you’ll get to explore the tools, materials, and techniques that bring costumes to life—and maybe discover a new skill to take home for your next project.

On an ordinary day, an ordinary person walks by a party and feel welcome, called even, to join. They don’t know what this party is, and they don’t know anyone else there. That is, until they see someone they have never met, but know better than they know anyone else.
Dancing with myself is a grounded and surrealistic scenario where introspection and conversation become the same thing. In pairs, the players will create their own character with dilemmas and hardships, and in doing so choose the themes of their game. Through dance, mirroring, and most of all conversation, the players will explore this character and their relationship to themself. At the same time, they will be part of a crowd of people around their co players.
What participants can expect
The game centers around co-creation, being in tune with another person and dancing like no one but you is watching.

In a basement in a French town that history has forgotten, where the smoke of its denizens bad vices however as an ominous cloud, and the conversion is just a murmur above the mellow jazzy tones that emanates from the shadows. The heart broken and depressed, the dark romantic, the up and coming, the avantgarde, the love struck, and occasional sad clown, come together to have a laugh, a social chat, a drink of absinthe, or just enjoy the service from the establishment's two fine and eccentric French waiters. It is a place where poetry flows and everyone is encouraged to take the stage to describe the world for what it is, declare ones innermost feelings, or undying love for someone precious in the audience, whether it be ennui, distaste, hate, love or desire, all is poetry.
What participants can expect
This is a party with a magical circle. It has larp elements in it. But like the Sad Party, the purpose is to have fun within a somewhat surreal and thematically constrained setting.

It is optional for the participants, but encouraged, to bring their own poetry. There might be served some greenish liquid simulating absinthe (no alcohol).

Have you ever invited a group of friends over to play an intense, well designed scenario game and they show up with their bag of dice and their Adventurers League D&D character sheet?
Scenario Games have been around for a long time. Festivals like Fastaval, Stockholm scenario festival, Grenselandet, The Smoke and others have been showing off and promoting these types of games for many years. Yet there is no useful definition of what it is and is not.
While a select few intuitively know what is and is not a Scenario Game this knowledge is not readily available for the broader larp and rpg community.
While a definition will never be perfect (this is art after all, and art refuses to be caged by strict definitions) we will aim at coming up with a USEFUL definition in this session.A useful definition can help curious players to find these great gems among the thousands of rule and system heavy roleplaying games published each year. And help the community and creators to promote the specific design by referring to the body of work already present. And be inspired to add to and improve on it.

While many LARPs do just fine with nothing more complicated than a pack of index cards, technology offers gamerunners some tempting opportunities to enhance their games.
Nick and Rachel have run larps incorporating technologies from networking and bespoke software to horses and blackpowder muskets. Drawing on their own experiences and a broader circle of gamerunners, they outline the ways that technological components of a LARP can go wrong and what you can do as a gamerunner to minimise those risks.

An overview of the key risks of using common kinds of technology (computers, phones, radios, active props) in Larp, drawn from the experience of a number of larprunners, and actionable advice about how to reduce those risks and how to keep the larp working when things still go wrong.

Do we promise you’ll get a transformative experience? No. Can we guarantee amazing larp design? No - it’s possible, but not the point of this experience. Will we have something to play through? YES. Will we be able to have a fun and interesting experience together? YES.
Let’s say we promise nothing and are prepared for anything!
Will it really take 2 h 45 min? Maybe? We will have anything between 1-4 larp-scenarios ready (enough) to be played, depending on how many groups we had in PART 1. Each larp will take somewhere between 5-35 minutes to play through. Probably.
As a player, it will be possible to drop in and out in breaks between two different larps. But since we can’t set any timelines in advance, you might have to wait a bit for us to be able to let you in or out. Hopefully - it will be captivating enough for you to stay the whole time!

It’s almost a given that larp stories are the ultimate instance of ‘you had to be there’. Over the past year I have begun to challenge that idea by not only translating my larp experience to word of mouth storytelling, but to sequential imagery, comics.

In LARPS, we sometimes tend to get stuck in the head and experience our play in a very verbal and cognitive way. Our body is such an important part of our experience, yet it often gets overlooked. I want to help shift the focus from cognitive, "meta-level" processing to a grounded, physical presence. By the end of the session, participants will have experienced the following:
• On a metalevel, a practical Toolbox: Players and facilitators will leave with concrete techniques for "warming up" into a character or "winding down" after a game
• The Inside-Out-And-Back-Method: How to find a character’s heart through physical habits, posture, and movement
• Somatic Awareness: The ability to listen to your body’s signals—like tension, energy, or gut feelings—and use them as creative fuel for roleplay

Between 2008 and 2018, many Stockholm larpers were involved in Granlandskampanjen - a series of low fantasy war larps that managed to mix combat-centred larps with high resolution conflicts, nuanced and multi-faceted cultures and world building, and following an ethnic conflict between groups who are more alike than they are different. Some of its design choices were great, and like nothing I've seen described in English before. So today, we look back and reflect on what we learnt. Come learn some Swedish larp history, indulge in nostalgia or get inspired for future projects.

Welcome to a cozy tavern for wandering larpers. The LARP Passport Tavern is a relaxed, drop-in social space where travellers gather to share stories from the road — across games, countries, roles, and years of play.
The LARP Passport was created by a small group of passionate larpers as a mini journal for recording and reflecting after larps, and it’s part of the atmosphere here rather than something you need to bring or use. Passports will be available to buy if you’re curious, and we’ll also hand out selected pages — like Larper Bingo — so everyone can jump in and start interacting right away.
The space is set up like a tavern or waystation, with different corners hosting small, playful mini-games inspired by the LARP Passport that gently prompt storytelling. We’re still shaping some of these ideas, but they may include things like a crowdsourced “Hall of Fame” (most challenging LARP, most comedic LARP, etc.) alongside conversation prompts that invite both silly and reflective stories. The idea is that people are free to wander, sit down, join a conversation halfway through, or just listen in.There’ll be a stamp corner to mark moments, meme stickers to take home, and light background music to set the mood. No fixed structure, no pressure — just a shared space for swapping larper tales, meeting new people, and enjoying a pause together in the middle of Knutpunkt.

Being an artist working with participatory experiences, I recently compiled an overview lecture about how larp is present in the contemporary art field today. My initial goal was to introduce LARP as an already established art form to new audiences. Yet, playing a hyper-short larp was still more effective. So I made a quick one. For this almost larp lecture party, you'll play an audience member who's never heard of larp and came to this lecture, on purpose or by chance. It'll start as a regular lecture, but has all chances to become a party, a larp or all at once.

You'll get to know how different artists work with larp today in the contemporary art field, and you'll also hopefully have a lot of fun playing someone who's never heard of larp.

Groundhog Day, Westworld, that one episode of Stargate…. In media, we love to explore the ideas of looping, variations on a theme, and learning through repetition and mistakes, but we seldom explore those ideas through larp. Why is that? Well, probably because doing the same thing over and over again is actually kind of boring.
Kim Lam and James Brown are designers and larpers from Canada working on a new blockbuster larp using looping play to explore themes of identity and autonomy. In this workshop, James will talk about this project, designing for looping play, and finding the balance between enough variation that it’s interesting but not so much that it stops being the same events. He will also present a short scenario and guide the audience through several loops.
What participants can expect
A brief talk/discussion about looping play and the blockbuster project using it that Kim and James are working on. James will cover how they tested and iterated what was (to them) a fairly new technique, and share some of the challenges and opportunities this kind of play presents. This will take up about 15 minutes, and then James will break the workshop up into pairs to play through several repetitions of a looping scenario and close with a loosely guided discussion and debrief.

Come learn and practice some new tools from across the pond, then use them during our Monstrosity Party later that day. (You don't have to come to the party to learn from our workshop!)
When the makers of the American larp, Monstrosity, determined the sort of content they wanted to showcase in the erotic horror experience, they realized they had to develop some unique tools to promote the sort of play they envisioned. Their suite of risk controls included three customized tools that had to be taught to all participants. This workshop introduces these three tools, as well as the methods to teach them.
Specifically, up to 24 participants can learn the history and science behind the tools called Natural Language, the Self-Care Cue, and the Consent-To-Risk cue. Then, they’ll train each other to expertise with the tools, culminating in short role-play scenarios. As part of this, they’ll learn about workshop design that includes Spot Checks, Proficiency Checks, and Larp-Oriented Practice. We’ll also provide documentation at the beginning of the workshop for people to take home with them.
In the evening after the workshop, we’ll have a separate program item; the Monstrosity party, where these participants can use their expertise to create scenes of erotic horror in a larger context.
This program item will include portrayals of sexuality and violence, and requires close physical contact.
What participants can expect
Some of our tools may resemble pre-existing meta-techniques, but they were all customized by a consent consultant to specifically meet the needs of this larp. Further, due to the risks inherent to Monstrosity, we had to develop new workshop techniques to ensure certain participants didn’t just know how to use the cues, but that the facilitators were confident that they’d actually use them. This workshop not only discusses what we learned, but gives participants the opportunity to learn the same lessons.
Prerequisites & Requirements
Participants will move around a lot, and have close physical contact, including roleplaying violent and/or sexual scenes. We recommend they wear practical clothing that won’t get in the way during the exercises.

Enjoy a taste of the erotic horror larp, Monstrosity, both personally and as a voyeur.
Monstrosity is an American larp that explores sexuality and violence through a story of vampires and their favorite humans. At this party, you’ll be able to engage with each other in a role of your choosing, either as a human at a dance party, or a vampire who seduces them as they feed.
While most scenes will be consensual, participants who have attended the Monstrosity Methods workshop earlier that day may role-play out nonconsensual scenes, which you may watch as a voyeur, to learn more about how we accomplish this at the larp. Please do not play out any nonconsensual scenes without attending the earlier workshop.
Participants will be greeted at the door and given a few brief instructions to reduce risk, and the party will be monitored by facilitators. Once inside, you’ll just play someone at a private dance club, where anything can happen. If you would like more details, please contact the organizers at monstrosity@sinkingshipcreations.com.

Lukas and Victoria from Kreativet shares their tools, trials, successes and insights for using larp as a way promote and practice readning while as well as expanding vocabulary plus strengthening reading comprehension with kids and teens. With examples from two different project, we shed light on the special benefits of complementing literacy education with larping and share the key learnings presented in one of our books. Nikolai Evreinov was once counted as among the top three theatrical directors in Russia during the early 1900s. Today, he's best known for directing The Storming of the Winter Palace, a massive 1920 outdoor re-enactment with almost 10,000 participants.
Mostly forgotten, however, are his ideas about the "theatrical instinct" for role play and "a theatre for oneself" that anticipate larp in surprising detail. What participants can expect
The event will be broken into three parts.
First part: participants spend approximately 15 minutes creating a flyer to promote the specific larp they're working on, a myriad of half-baked larp ideas, and/or themselves as organizers (by listing their design philosophies, genre preferences, areas of expertise, etc).
Second part: participants sit in two rows of chairs facing each other, and the participants in one row move down the line every 5 or 10 minutes in a classic speed dating set-up. They exchange cards and discuss their ideas, what they're looking for in a co-organizer, and their compatibility as collaborators. (This part will take approximately an hour.)
Third part: after the speed dating round is done, participants spend the last 20-30 minutes mingling. They will walk around, exchange cards if they wish, and have the chance to talk further with possible collaborators they meshed well with or might like to get to know better.

Photos have become the primary way a larp is documented and communicated to the outside world, often more immediate and readable than design documents or written reports. In this talk, we will explore the different functions of larp photography and the tensions between them, to better understand what we are asking from photographers, and why.

In 1636, Sweden gets a new, unique postal system. In practice, it means that young farmhands become "Postdrängar" and regurarly recieve a bag of mail that they need to run with to the next postdräng. For efficencys sake postdrängar meets on the way, in the forest to exchange the post there. What happens in these private, hurried moments?

Some larpers have honed this craft over hundreds of events and become scarily good. But there _is_ a shortcut: Practice and drilling.

In this workshop, we explore a practical framework, a set of concrete techniques, and the mindset that helps you level up faster. Most of our time will be spent on hands-on exercises: we test, experiment, create conflicts, and play our way toward better design and better collaboration.
By the end of the workshop, you won’t just have learned a lot—you’ll also have had fun. And most importantly, you’ll walk away with tools that enable you to create richer play and stronger, more meaningful conflicts in a short amount of time—for yourself and for your co-players.

Procrustean Bed is a larp-derived film and installation project led by Adam James, developed with players from larp, dance, and contemporary art communities across Europe and the UK, in collaboration with Brody Condon.
The session begins with a 15-minute preview screening. The film comes out of a four-day, largely non-verbal larp and workshop series with 25 participants, filmed in September 2024 in Borås, Sweden — across Dannike bog, Borås Museum, and a working early-1900s sawmill. The project moves between a tight domestic setting inspired by 18th-century craft labour and a more ritual, landscape-based strand set in bog and industrial environments.
After the screening, Adam and invited co-organisers and players will talk about making the work: using larp as a filmmaking method, non-verbal play experience and filming over multiple days and locations. Adam will also discuss how the project is evolving into installation and related sculptural forms.
This session is a chance to share the work with the community that shaped it and open up conversation about larp as a tool for film and contemporary art practice.
What participants can expect
Participants will watch a shared screening followed by an open conversation about the process behind the work. The lead artist, co-organisers, and players will reflect on what worked, what didn’t, and what was learned — from organising and facilitating the larp, to filming in difficult environments such as a bog.
Rather than presenting a polished result, the session focuses on process: the compromises, tensions, and unexpected turns. It offers a practical look at larp as a method for artistic production, and opens up discussion about how larp can move into film, sculpture, and exhibition contexts.
Prerequisites & Requirements
No special preparation is required. Participants will be seated throughout the session, watching a screening and taking part in listening and discussion. Elements of the film include periods of louder sound in short bursts (approximately 3–5 minutes), but all audio will remain within normal film screening levels. There is no physical activity involved, and nothing specific to bring or wear.

Realists of a Larger Reality is a hopeful larp about realizing that change is possible and finding freedom of being a part rather than being apart.
The larp is abstract and non-verbal.What participants can expect
The core idea of the larp is that humans lost connection with the real world as they started to focus on their own interpretations. This slowly led to a set of rigid norms and world views, which the characters are trapped in when the larp starts.
The larp starts in a society centered around earning money and status and fitting in. People have become competitive, selfish and lonely caught in a specific vision of what their lives should be. But then they begin to realize that they have the power to let go of the toxic structures and reconnect with their world and each other. They begin to explore new ways of being, with fewer preconceptions, more uncertainty and the freedom to be strange and sincere.
The aim of the larp is to help players reflect on the norms and structures of our current society and how these could possibly be changed.Prerequisites & Requirements
The larp is non-verbal and based on movement. There will be a semi-loud soundtrack (if possible) for part of the larp. It would be wonderful if participants could wear black clothes.

River Rafting Design is Katrine Wind's framework for designing larp experiences with more opportunities for emotional impact all through a larp both as a larp designer and as a player in a sandboxy larp. It builds on the basis of "Frontloading" and contains points about character/setting, mechanics and pacing.
The aim is to create larp experiences where all emotional impact isn't experiences at the end of the larp. Both designers and players can use the framework and you don't have to be experienced to join. However, it's an advantage if you know some of the basic terminology of Nordic larp like the difference between gamism, narrativism and immersionism.

A practical toolbox of making larp experiences more intense and meaningful in the beginning and middle of the experience. The participants can provide their own examples and have flash-talks with a few other people to share their experiences especially regarding pacing and mechanics - and provide inspiration to everyone about how to make larps impactful earlier in the runtime.

The mine made the town, and the town made the mine. For more than a century they have grown together, under and above ground respectively. The mine shafts now sprawl in all directions, partly undermining the town. Furthermore, some of the richest mineral veins stretch even further under it. While children still play in the playgrounds and schools and shops are still open, large areas are no longer safe and even larger areas risk becoming affected.
It is clear that the whole town has to move. The game is set AFTER the divisive decision to move the whole city has been democratically made. Some people love it, some people hate it, some people think this is a necessary discomfort for the greater good. No matter the sentiments, this was democratically voted, and the decision has been made.
A group of people, champions in their local pub quiz night, will gather each week to play the quiz and discuss the recent events in town.
What participants can expect
In this larp we will explore how we can accept and live with the results of democratic decisions, whether we agree on the outcome or not. While the game is not about changing decisions, it is about how you as an individual can change and adapt, while accepting a democratic choice.
The larp is part of the Horizon Europe-financed research project Larpocracy, where larp and deliberative democracy is explored. While this is mainly a larp, afterwards we will use the experience as the foundation to discuss how we can expand the ways we play with democracy in larp. Both the game and the following discussion will be used as data gathering for the project, if you chose to be part of if.

What happens when a government decides its civil servants need to unlearn? The Civil Service College Applied Simulations and Training (CAST) team from Singapore operates as a "laboratory for unlearning" within the public service, using gameful design to challenge calcified mental models and create brave spaces for strategic conversations.
This talk explores CAST's approach to unlearning – using provocations that help reveal hidden assumptions, loosen our hold on tightly-held mental models, and thus explore new possibilities. The team will demonstrate three core methods: employing the preposterous, using roleplay and metaphor, and creating interactive models.

The session offers principles for designing experiences that interrupt habitual thinking, create third spaces for authentic dialogue, and enable productive disorientation. Shadow Relations are a relationship mechanic that brings internal play to the outside. Inspired by the psychological mechanism of transference, characters are projecting somebody from their past or imagination onto each other: They may believe another character to be their distant parent, lost lover or inner child.
This mechanic can make backstories come alive, externalize inner conflicts and enable direct interaction with distant or abstract themes - all between two characters meaningfully playing with each other and without without need for NPCs. It was designed for and used in four runs of the larp Blankspace.
Learn what it‘s all about and experience it yourself in a series of short scenes! This workshop is for anyone interested in the mechanic - whether as a designer creating prewritten relationships, or as a player looking to bring more of your backstory or inner conflicts into play.
What participants can expect
After a short presentation introducing the mechanic and its use cases, you will pair up and play a series of connected scenes that slowly ease you into the mechanic and its possibilities. In the last part, you can try out variations like projections of abstract concepts or ways to use it as a player when it‘s not pre-written.
The workshop will give you a basic understanding of the mechanic and a starting point from where you can go on and use it yourself - as a player or as a designer. It mostly focusses on the player experience rather than how to design them (an article in the book goes deeper into theory and design).

Everyone in The Shadow Space plays themself, everyone is alone. Everyone sees each other as something they are not.
You have some control over what people project onto you by choosing differently-coloured glow-sticks.

An abstract experience for max 1 hour in an enclosed, playful space. The themes are the subconsciousness/projections, outer space metaphors, impro poetry, strange/abstract interactions between participants.

Since the Middle Ages, the adventures of heroes in distant lands have been retold through narrative songs such as ballads. A song is a particularly powerful way to preserve a story: it is more memorable and emotionally charged; however, it is also limited or distorted to fit line length or rhyme schemes.
A group of travellers, on riding companion animals, searching for a signal — hoping to learn more about their past, and perhaps their future.
In this LARP, we aim both to create the ballad of this group of adventurers and to sing it together, becoming the very characters celebrated in the song. The gaps in the ballad’s narrative will be filled by larping after each verse of the song.
While the technology within the game is reset to a level comparable to the Middle Ages, the scenario takes place in a speculative future after the collapse of civilization and climate as we know it.
This LARP is strongly based on collective singing and draws inspiration from Old British narrative folk songs, Alison Arth’s poetry RPGs, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and emergency preparedness kits recommended by various European governments.What participants can expect
This Larp is strongly based on collective singing but no singing experience is required, just enthusiasm. A rough skeleton of the ballad will be provided, players will fill it out with own ideas.

The crafting circle is a place to share stories. Bring your crafting to the circle (knitting, crocheting, needle binding, embroidery or anything you can craft while sitting down) and tell a story from a larp or a character you played that made a lasting impression.
Tell the story as if it was a fairy tale or as if it was a real thing that happened, share it in third person. "Once upon a time, there was a girl on a spaceship..."
Only crafters in the circle can share, and no story should be longer than 3 minutes each. Non crafters can listen. It is ok to prepare your fairy tale in advance. The crafting circle will be lead by a facilitator.What participants can expect
A place of peace and calm where we have time and space to listen to each other telling stories. The crafting circle could be the Norns, or the Fates of men, or just your inner knitting grandma sharing their wisdom. This is not a space for telling war stories about your cool scenes, but sharing stories that changed the teller or the world a little bit, just like all good fairy tales.

Participants will meet others wearing historical style undergarments and have the chance to talk about them in a relaxed social setting. People can show what they brought, explain how it was made or found, and admire each other’s creativity.

What's up with the divide between the non-player character and the player character? Why would we say that an NPC is "not playing"? What we seem to mean, actually, is that one of these is a valued larp customer, and another is a service provider - a relationship that directly contradicts principles of co-creation and enables dehumanisation, othering, and larping as desire fulfilment without consequence.
At the same time, we're becoming aware of more nuance in the NPC realm. There are interactive actors, instructed players, players whose characters have an oversized amount of decision-making power in-game and thus have a reason to keep their play aligned with the larp as a whole, and many others. I was an actor before I was a larper, and I've been a player who answers to the organisers: instructed characters, directed characters, characters with responsibilities in-game, characters who are destined to die halfway through, organiser characters. It's never sat right with me that these characters aren't fully "larping", or that you can't get all up in your feelings even if you have a secret plot bomb you have to do on the second day. I'd like to take some lessons from theatre and performance to come up with a better framing for what we are doing when we play on behalf of the larp, and extend this framing for all players and organisers.

Once inside, you will play the part of a random person that has met up at the family gathering in "The House". In this talk, we want to share how we approach the full lifecycle of a larp, including how we design, write, organize, document, and run the experience. We will walk through the tools, methods, and workflows we use to collaborate efficiently, make better use of our time, and reduce friction during creation, production and play. Our tools can work in any kind of larp.
Our goal is not to present a single “right way” to do things, but to offer concrete tools and lessons learned that may help other teams design and run larps more sustainably. Because if designing and running larps is not sustainable, it does not matter how good the idea is. It will not last.

We’ll touch on some practical fundamentals (yes, including why you should wash your fabric first), but the real focus is on sharing tricks, ideas, and a “you can do this” mindset.
Costume making rewards creativity and problem-solving just as much as technical skill—something I’ve learned during my time as a cosplayer. There are many materials and techniques we might not immediately think of when creating LARP costumes, and I’d love to share some of those possibilities.
This talk aims to encourage beginners to take their first steps into costuming, while also inspiring more experienced makers to think outside the box and approach materials and techniques in new ways.

You will experience how larping in the deep end will impact your character and what could happen when larp communities segregate away from the mainstream of our community. True Nordic is a larp in the scenario tradition, scene based and partly unconnected from time and space.

As larp designers and organizers, we use magic in multiple ways:
- as game mechanics
- as narrative metaphors
- as quality of experience
- and many othersIn this workshop we will co-create a MAP OF MAGIC together with the Participants. We wish to dive deep into different definitions and aspects of magic, based on the particular case studies of the participants. The goal is to share experience between larpers and collect ideas for even more diverse and meaningful use of magic in games.
The content of this workshop is based on the experience of 7 "Larp Alchemy Training Courses" carried out by Nausika Foundation in Poland (https://nausika.eu/larpalchemy), but no preparation and no knowledge of Larp Alchemy is required, we will start from scratch and include every participant.

In 2065, the world is emerging from decades of political and economic upheaval. As part of a global effort toward “moral restoration,” the International Tribunal for Extinct Nations convenes to examine crimes against peoples and places that no longer exist. Currently, the Tribunal is focusing on Gaza, a name erased from maps but still remembered. The courtroom serves both as a stage and a memorial, with screens displaying reconstructed testimonies, artefacts, and satellite images of the lost city. The audience, now called "witnesses," observes the trials of those accused of, directly or indirectly, contributing to the destruction of Gaza and its inhabitants.What participants can expect

A late night theory presentation, candlelit, down some sketchy alleyway on the wrong side of town. A presentation of new ideas, but we are not sure whether the ideas or the audience are more dangerous ...
Two or three speakers will present their theoretic ideas to an audience, by candlelight with no powerpoint to back them up. The audience? Some supernatural and potentially malevolent beings. Are they faeries, demons, manifestations of greater powers? All we know for sure is that they hunger, either for new ideas, or those bold enough to stand before them.
What participants can expect
A group pf speakers will present their ideas to an audience, but we're going to frame the audience as vampires or fae, or some other supernatural - and potentially malevolent force. At the end of the talks the audience decide whether to celebrate the ideas, or take the speakers away to some uncertain fate ...

This blues party is not secret, but it will be chill, groovy and play a good selection of blues and slow dance music. Anyone can participate, regardless of dance skill - just come and connect on the dance floor.

Are some experiences of pain alright at larps? Do you value physical sensation to find immersion? We will look at violence as an experience and as relational storytelling - not as a show or a cool public scenes. We will workshop how we as players safely explore destructive sides between characters without it being stage fighting. We'll try different techniques for physical oppression to help find what feels but doesn't damage.
What participants can expect
Together we will safely explore the boundaries of our personal comfort zones and gain better knowledge of what we can and want to play more with. You might also get new perspectives on how violence can be used in interesting ways.

At this workshop you first take part in a short beginner-friendly kung fu inspired workout, followed by a brief presentation of the Online RPG martial arts workout concept. The session will then shift into an open discussion where participants share ideas about how a supportive and inclusive training community for larpers and gamers could be created, while exploring how roleplay, storytelling, and narrative participation might function within an online workout platform. Together we will also imagine what an ideal RPG-inspired workout experience could look like.
What participants can expect
A partly practical and physical taster of a way to make working out fun through gamification and roleplay and a following presentation of on going methods.
Prerequisites & Requirements
Participants will move physically and participate in a brief workout session for approximately 15-20 minutes.
NO prior martial arts or athletic experience required. Exercises will be scalable.
Comfortable workout clothes recommended, sneakers (or if the space allows bare feet).
Optional: participants may wear playful costume elements, an attribute that encourages a playful atmosphere maybe; A clown nose, funny hat, unicorn headband or such, to support character embodiment and play.

This smaller follow-up workshop continues the exploration started in the introductory session. While the first workshop focuses on community building and overall big ideas, this session focuses on designing the underlying gameplay and roleplaying systems.
Together we will explore how physical martial arts training could translate into RPG mechanics and narrative progression within an online platform.
Participants will collaborate in a small design lab format to prototype ideas for how a playful and immersive roleplaying workout experience could function.

Participants will work together to imagine how a roleplaying workout platform could function, exploring ideas for character progression, story and worldbuilding, XP systems tied to physical training, and ways narrative arcs, NPCs, and player interaction could shape an evolving online roleplaying community. The goal is to collectively prototype possible systems that could support a sustainable and engaging online RPG-inspired workout community.
Prerequisites & Requirements
Some prior game design experience is welcome but not required. Participants should be interested in roleplaying, game design, gamification, community building, or experimental approaches to fitness and storytelling.

Larp organizing in a team often means that some people will become more visible than others. But what about when you are constantly the forgotten organizer? What does it do to you when you're not acknowledged?
In this panel larp organisers and team members will share their experiences. This is a follow-up talk to a program item on invisible organizing from Knudepunkt 2023.
What participants can expect
A panel discussion about lived experiences when it come to being forgotten despite your hard work. With some anger, some laughs and hopefully some words of wisdom to us as a community to do better.

We suck at writing things down.
There are already LARP scripts for games that are intended to be run again. But what about documentation of the process leading to the finished product, and the lessons learned along the way? What was the first idea, and how did it change into something often very different? How did we go from A to B?
Most of the experience and knowledge generated from running LARPs within the LARP community is locked inside the brilliant minds of great organizers. But I believe that we, both as individual organizers and as a larger community, have much to gain from making documentation of LARP organizing both accessible and a central part of a LARP’s lifecycle.
Documentation is awesome. In this talk, I’ll attempt to convince you why.

Participants should leave the talk with a renewed perspective on documentation in LARP creation. I hope to create ripples that might lead to a culture of stronger communal learning, fueled by transparency and curiosity.
Documenting our work - from the first idea to the final evaluations - not only creates more structured processes. It can also help us solve complex issues and challenges, build trust within the community, and support the next generation of organizers.
By the end of the talk, each participant should understand these central points, as well as have a set of frameworks and guides for how documentation might be implemented in their own workflow or community.

What would your character do? How is your character helpful to you in real life? In this to talk, you'll see how to summon your character to help in daily life. And learn how to create new characters that help you channel aspects of yourself that you want more of.
This is a special version of my Keynote 'The Power of Imagination'. Normally, weat 'Live Action Learning' teach non-larpers how they can learn from their imagination. Last year at KP we gave a short sneak peak and had 300+ larpers summon their inner Jack Russel. This year, this 45 minute talk will be the full experience!
What participants can expect
I hope to achieve that people can use larp in everyday life. Because there's so much we can learn from larp and the characters we play. So many people have experienced that they discover new skills or parts of themself through a larp. This interactive talk gives them the possibility to do that more, better and on purpose. It even gives them a way to learn new things without larping, but by creating a version of themself.
This will be a longer version of my 2025 plenary flashtalk, for those that heard it and want more, those that heard about it, but missed it and want to hear or those who are just curious.
It is designed for large audiences, so I'd love a time slot that fits with that and a room that can accomodate that. As you might be aware, I speak professionally and know how to entertain and inspire larger crowds.

Winter, in the Knutpunkt program, is a season for looking backward in order to understand lineage, consequence, and future possibility. This workshop focuses on how designers can use artificial intelligence as a reflective tool to study existing physical artifacts from past creative work.
Rather than generating new content, the session examines how journals, handwritten notes, archetype cards, sketches, and other physical materials can be revisited through digital interpretation. Using optical character recognition and language analysis tools, these artifacts are temporarily translated into machine-readable form so they can be organized, clustered, and reflected back to their creators.
The workshop draws on ongoing work developing a conversational role-playing game for the nonprofit and charity sector, where years of journals, notes, and prototype materials are being revisited to understand how ideas evolved and where future designs might go. Artificial intelligence is treated not as an author or decision-maker, but as a means of surfacing patterns that are difficult to see when working alone or from memory.
This is a session about reading what already exists, noticing inherited assumptions, and asking how past materials can responsibly inform future play.
What participants can expect
