While we can not claim that Knutpunkt 2026 will be a fully “sustainable” event (no event of this kind is!), sustainability is an important factor for us and something we are considering in all aspects of the project. These are some of the choices we have made to try to keep emissions caused by the event down, and some things we would like you to do!
What we are doing
- Keep printed material and merchandise to a minimum. There will be a bit of printed material, like name tags and signs, but do not expect any massive program pamphlets or goodie bags.
- Borrow instead of buying as much as we can when it comes to equipment, decorations, etc. Whatever we do buy, we will make sure to sell or donate it to other organisations to be used for future events
- Serving vegetarian food as the default. We will, however, do our best to make sure that participants with dietary requirements get enough food to sustain them for every meal.
What we want you to do
- Reuse or borrow costumes and accessories for the parties, decorations for your room, props for your program items, etc. If you need to buy something, try to get it second-hand. Feel free to use the Discord channel to make a call for stuff you need that another participant may be able to lend you!
- If possible, avoid flying to Knutpunkt 2026. We are aware that for some of you, flying is an absolute necessity for you to be able to attend - and we would still very much like to have you at the event! For those of you who can choose another way of transportation, please do! Gothenburg has great train and bus connections. If you go by car, see if you can carpool with others from your area or places you pass on your way. Use the Discord channel to make travel plans with your fellow participants!
- Bring a refillable water bottle (Sweden has great tap water!)
- Recycle any waste that you bring or create.

Feel free to reach out to us with more questions, suggestions, and ideas regarding the sustainability of the event. As a community, we still have a lot to learn in this area, and making more sustainable events requires teamwork!
